Last year, a mutual of mine on Twitter created a really interesting online community that I'm a part of, and I absolutely love it. It's a really cool idea that I want to talk about today's episode. The community is called your Friendly Nate, your friendly, nerdy neighborhood. And I wanted to bring that creator on the show to talk about.

SEAN
Her biggest goal and anything she does is to connect with people and nurture community. Lauren, welcome to the show. How you doing?

00:01:57:00 - 00:01:59:16
LAUREN
What's up, Sean? I'm good. How about yourself?

00:02:00:04 - 00:02:19:08
SEAN
Not bad. You know, we're recording this on New Year's Day, and I got I got to say, I'm actually feel a little refreshed because I took a nap right before this. So I'm, like, really energized right now. But let me ask you this. Did you had any fun plans on New Year's Eve? Did you do anything exciting?

00:02:20:23 - 00:02:23:02
LAUREN
Well, you know, I'm kind of at that age where I'm in.

00:02:23:02 - 00:02:29:16
LAUREN
My late twenties and I slowly start realizing that things I did for I can't do anymore.

00:02:30:04 - 00:02:33:12
LAUREN
Even if I want to. Like, I was thinking about how the other night.

00:02:33:24 - 00:02:50:19
LAUREN
I didn't do this on New Year's Day, like a couple months. The guy I want to date with, this random guy and we went to this nightclub I used to really like it's a gay nightclub called Legends, believe it or not, here. And I guess going there like I've never been a big club, but that was one that was like, Hey, this is really nice.

00:02:50:19 - 00:02:53:03
LAUREN
It's really big. It's super comfortable and accepting.

00:02:53:03 - 00:02:59:16
LAUREN
And also you can go about there's so many activities at club and that never happens. And so we got there for the.

00:02:59:16 - 00:03:06:22
LAUREN
Stay at home months ago and I learned that they had redesigned it and they had gone with another club. And so this other club is taking out the.

00:03:06:22 - 00:03:20:13
LAUREN
Space that now took the good bathroom. I get there. I'm 27 years old. Come where am I going to be? I can't wait in line for an hour. So, yeah, I, I no.

00:03:20:13 - 00:03:21:18
LAUREN
Longer for.

00:03:21:18 - 00:03:31:08
LAUREN
The club in life because that's, that's not me. So I did not have any big plans to answer your question for New Years. But I did spend time with family.

00:03:31:08 - 00:03:47:09
LAUREN
I have four siblings and so we hung out and the parents are there and it was a tug of war, pretty, you know, rambunctious and goofy. I don't know if you ever heard of it, but there was a spinoff of the Rayman games, the Raving Rabbids Really Games.

00:03:47:13 - 00:03:52:14
LAUREN
They're amazing. Yeah, I have them. I feel like you personally would love them because they're filled that game.

00:03:52:14 - 00:04:01:03
LAUREN
The second one is filled with all these, like, ridiculous mini games, like one of them as your one, the bunnies, essentially. And you're throwing paper the teacher.

00:04:01:08 - 00:04:14:01
LAUREN
But then you have to stop before they turn around, because if you don't, they whack you that your goal is to get the points. And when you can snitch on people, do the very stupid dumb shit like that. And we watch.

00:04:14:01 - 00:04:20:12
LAUREN
Like Miley and Dolly Parton Years Eve party, which was fantastic. Absolute banger.

00:04:20:12 - 00:04:21:18
LAUREN
I'm all for staying home.

00:04:21:22 - 00:04:24:14
LAUREN
And watching TV and just being stupid. I think that's a great idea.

00:04:24:21 - 00:04:55:12
SEAN
Well, they go, awesome. Well, you know, for me on New Year's Eve, like, I've, you know, I just it's not exciting for me anymore. Like staying up past midnight, you know, Watching you. Yeah. Like, I just it's gotten over me. But we spend time with my family and my kid who is in elementary. He played a new ball game that he got for Christmas with my brother and my brother is pretty cutthroat when it comes to board games.

00:04:55:20 - 00:05:21:24
SEAN
So I was really proud of him, My my kid, because pretty much they're playing this new version of Monopoly where it's like a credit card reader instead of cash. And not only is that happening, but there's like, new rules with it. And so my brother landed into a jail and my kid explained to him and said that because he's in jail, he cannot, you know, collect rent, he cannot buy anything.

00:05:21:24 - 00:05:37:04
SEAN
He also can't participate in auction because in this game you can auction off stuff where if you land on a space, you can instead of buying it for full price, you can auction it off. So my case goes, so sits you in jail. You can't buy anything for auctioning off. So when I land on a space is they're paying $300 for the whole thing.

00:05:37:04 - 00:05:56:21
SEAN
I'm just going to auction off for 20 bucks cheaper. So I'm a very proud parent that he was able to do that to my brother. He will be cut like he'll be ruthless to make anybody. I don't care how old he is, you know? Yeah, life is hard as a school of hard knocks, basically. So.

00:05:57:22 - 00:05:58:06
LAUREN
Yeah.

00:05:58:18 - 00:06:23:17
SEAN
Well, and when we first connected on Twitter, one things that I know we absolutely connected on was our love of Nightcrawler. And just as you had mentioned, you have a PI cast dedicated to the character of Nightcrawler, which I absolutely love. Yeah. And you went to Nightcrawler? Sure. Yeah. So I want to ask you, like, what was your start with Nightcrawler?

00:06:23:17 - 00:06:28:01
SEAN
Like? What made you fall in love with that character?

00:06:28:01 - 00:06:30:02
LAUREN
Yeah, I mean, I wish I had.

00:06:30:02 - 00:06:50:10
LAUREN
This, like, really great sentimental story of what I read. The comic. I was most like heartfelt story. No, I think the start of it, I mean, that that made my love bigger for him, but that it happened like a lot later. The earliest I can remember really seeing having to be like, Oh, he's really cool was like playing like the X-Men Legends and the Marvel, the games.

00:06:51:05 - 00:07:00:23
LAUREN
Oh, he's got tail, he has swords and he teleports. Why would you want me to tell a boring character? And he deadpool's there. But like everybody knows Deadpool already, Like before he was bad.

00:07:00:24 - 00:07:20:01
LAUREN
Deadpool was just Deadpool, you know? So yeah, he was just so cool then. And then I was a big fan of him on X-Men Evolution. You know, he was he was very similar to how he was written in the seventies, which I had it right at the time, but I have now where he's just very, you know, silly and flirty, but, you know, not in a creepy way.

00:07:20:01 - 00:07:35:13
LAUREN
Like, you know, he has that very nice, that good balance. So I really enjoyed that. And I did watch the, you know, X-Men 90 Series as well, which I enjoyed the series, but I didn't like her as a priest there because that's what he what they did in the nineties and they can stop that. So.

00:07:35:13 - 00:07:56:13
SEAN
Right You know, my love for Nightcrawler is pretty much is very similar and that wasn't a huge thing at all. It was more of I grew up Catholic and I was like, Oh, he's Catholic too. Like, that's cool. Yeah. So that's what made me gravitate to him to begin with was just because I didn't see a lot of Catholic characters in comics.

00:07:56:13 - 00:08:00:00
SEAN
You know, like the first one for me was Daredevil, and I absolutely loved Daredevil.

00:08:00:00 - 00:08:06:23
LAUREN
Obviously, I'm going to say somehow Daredevil. One Catholic hero battle had well in action.

00:08:07:00 - 00:08:24:20
SEAN
Well, and he's been a favorite of mine for like a lot of different reasons as well, too. But that just happened to be one of them, is that, you know, he was cool as a Catholic as well. But with Nightcrawler, that's how it started, as Walter is like, Oh, he's too Catholic. So I decide to read up on him because it's just really interesting and fascinating to see, you know, Catholicism in the comics and everything.

00:08:24:20 - 00:08:32:15
SEAN
I just I, I don't love him as much as you do. Like, I absolutely love him. But I did not start a podcast about Nightcrawler. So I think.

00:08:32:15 - 00:08:41:05
LAUREN
Yeah, I don't think you have like four walls. Yeah. House dedication. Yeah. So I have to catch up. Where Daredevil's John, Where are they?

00:08:41:10 - 00:08:42:09
SEAN
But I'm sorry.

00:08:42:24 - 00:08:44:18
LAUREN
Where are your daredevil walls?

00:08:44:18 - 00:09:07:08
SEAN
I you know, I have I did like, I have this and this, right? I have a poster that I bought at Memphis Comic Expo, somebody that drew Daredevil that is really, really good. I absolutely love it. And then my friend Steven, who is a digital artist, he actually just created a Daredevil poster recently. And I think he said he's going to send me one as well, too.

00:09:07:08 - 00:09:24:06
SEAN
So it's the thing is like I have them, but like I'm running out of space. And because, you know, if you look at my wall, if you're watching this on YouTube, like I can actually touch my wall right here. So if I screw back, I'm going to be banging into posters. Yeah. So, so I have some stuff a little bit higher with the wall space and everything.

00:09:24:06 - 00:09:30:13
SEAN
So I'm going to fill that up as just a space limitation like anything else.

00:09:30:13 - 00:09:33:05
LAUREN
So just, just have a daredevil shot and in.

00:09:33:05 - 00:09:34:18
LAUREN
Fact are don't worry about it. I know.

00:09:34:20 - 00:10:11:06
SEAN
Well, I mean, you know, I feel like I figured this is good enough. Hanging out, having him hanging out by myself is is all I really need to have. So, yeah, I got to say, speaking of Nightcrawler, though, one of the things I absolutely love about Nightcrawler and movies is the movie Dark Phenix. Not a great movie per se, but I loved how they had the action scene of Nightcrawler in there because I felt like they did a really good job of capturing how how great of a fighter and how vicious he can be when he fights.

00:10:11:06 - 00:10:33:08
SEAN
Because when he I forget what happened. But I remember when he snapped and got really angry, it was like you saw that whole scene. He's just like, he is not somebody that you want to mess with. That's at that point, you know. And I didn't know if you felt the same way about that scene or not, but it's like I felt like that scene kind of really did justice in terms of what Nightcrawler is capable of when he's in a fight and not just, you know, teleporting to.

00:10:33:12 - 00:10:34:16
LAUREN
So I don't.

00:10:34:16 - 00:10:35:05
LAUREN
Remember that.

00:10:35:05 - 00:10:38:18
LAUREN
Scene. So I know that's a big prize.

00:10:38:18 - 00:10:42:16
SEAN
If he tries to forget about Dark Phenix, I get that.

00:10:42:16 - 00:10:43:06
LAUREN
I mean, so.

00:10:43:07 - 00:10:44:24
LAUREN
That's probably how big an impression it left.

00:10:45:05 - 00:10:47:16
LAUREN
I mean, I can I can do a whole.

00:10:47:16 - 00:11:19:06
LAUREN
Thing talking about that dark Phenix movie and not even just trash anger or anything, but there was a lot of potential on that that just completely messed on. I really remember the the beginning of X2 where Nightcrawler teleports and he just wipes through the White House like nothing essentially. And even then, though, that's not a full, you know, demonstration of what he's capable of because I think that you use is very important to him because he's capable of way more than people think, especially if people think, well, he.

00:11:19:11 - 00:11:24:01
LAUREN
He's a priest or oh, he's just fun loving, He can never kill. And I'm like, you.

00:11:24:01 - 00:11:30:01
LAUREN
Guys clearly haven't read the comic where yes, it wasn't a car, but technically a Nightcrawler teleport into.

00:11:30:01 - 00:11:31:05
LAUREN
Blob with a shark.

00:11:31:05 - 00:11:31:20
LAUREN
And then teleport.

00:11:31:20 - 00:11:32:16
LAUREN
Out and let the shark.

00:11:32:16 - 00:11:33:16
LAUREN
Expand and blow.

00:11:33:16 - 00:11:41:00
LAUREN
Up blob from the inside. Like they also haven't read the comic wear and way of X spot recently.

00:11:41:00 - 00:11:44:06
LAUREN
And the Kraken there. He literally teleported a planet.

00:11:44:07 - 00:11:48:16
LAUREN
Yeah. Y That's insane. Yeah. Yeah. You know, there's there's a lot more.

00:11:48:16 - 00:11:53:19
LAUREN
He's capable of than what we've seen like and like, you know, filmed media.

00:11:54:06 - 00:12:00:17
LAUREN
But yeah, I don't know. I feel kind of bad and I have to go Rewatches I figure out what you're talking about.

00:12:00:17 - 00:12:17:16
SEAN
I actually give you a heads up on that. But yeah, I mean, watch it again and I'll be interested to see what you think about it. But I just remember thinking that that was probably just a great way because we haven't seen Nightcrawler in media too often. Those just like the handful of those movies. But I felt like in that scene it was it kind of changed.

00:12:17:16 - 00:12:29:24
SEAN
Yeah. How we see Nightcrawler in terms of like what you said, just kind of like a a fluffy character that can transport and that's like he's actually a really impressive fighter that can really use his teleportation.

00:12:30:06 - 00:12:30:15
LAUREN
Right.

00:12:30:24 - 00:12:35:02
SEAN
To his advantage. Well, that's not, you know, just being able to go from one place to another. Yeah.

00:12:36:04 - 00:12:47:07
LAUREN
Yeah. I mean, that's what blew my mind. Part of doing this amazing podcast. You know, my co-host, Lisa and I, we we were chatting through Twitter, DMS. I don't remember how she'll probably get me later for not remembering. She was like.

00:12:47:07 - 00:12:52:08
LAUREN
How could you forget? I don't feel terrible, but we connected somehow.

00:12:53:04 - 00:13:01:17
LAUREN
And we started chatting again one day. I'm pretty sure, you know, she suggested it and it was like, Hey, why would I call her podcast? Just for lack of like.

00:13:02:02 - 00:13:06:09
LAUREN
I mean, yeah, why not? But now we've been doing it for over a year.

00:13:06:09 - 00:13:29:22
LAUREN
It's actually happened and people actually listen to it, which is crazy. But one thing I really learned from it is that, you know, a lot of people they listen to are, you know, very niche, hardcore Nightcrawler fans, you know, like people that worship like I do like a maniac. Um, but then there's also so many people like you that like even though you're more the dad of a guy upfront, you love him.

00:13:29:22 - 00:13:39:18
LAUREN
Do Yeah. So it's really cool learning about all these other fans that even if they're not the most vocal about loving and he may not be their number one, they're like, Oh.

00:13:39:18 - 00:13:43:05
LAUREN
My gosh, he's freaking. Also, I'm like, Yeah, I'll probably listen to a.

00:13:43:05 - 00:14:02:02
LAUREN
Couple of episodes when I can and I would love to talk about them. So that's kind of our favorite thing to do is, you know, we're very open about who we have on the podcast. As long as you're not a really terrible person or something, you know, we're like, Hey, you just like him a bit, or you think is cool and you want to talk about, come on, Like they're not like people that are like.

00:14:02:10 - 00:14:07:07
LAUREN
You know, you gotta know everything about her. You pass the test, maybe you read one comedy, you like.

00:14:07:08 - 00:14:08:17
LAUREN
Them, or you just want to talk about him in dark.

00:14:08:17 - 00:14:11:06
LAUREN
Phenix, come on. Like, all right, so that's a lot of.

00:14:11:06 - 00:14:11:21
LAUREN
Fun to.

00:14:12:04 - 00:14:18:01
SEAN
Love. Good. Yeah, well, I take that that's an open invitation for anybody that wants to come on the show. Yeah. Dog about it. Yeah.

00:14:19:05 - 00:14:20:09
LAUREN
Yeah, absolutely.

00:14:21:00 - 00:14:39:18
SEAN
So let's let's talk a little bit about your origin story with comic books. I like to ask all my guests the same question and. And just talking about your origin story with comics, like was there a particular event or person or particular issue that got you into comics that you're just like, I need to start reading more of this?

00:14:41:14 - 00:14:44:02
LAUREN
Yeah. So I mean, a lot of things that.

00:14:44:02 - 00:15:01:05
LAUREN
Got me into comics. So my uncle was the one that got me into them as a person. He was a woman that he used to live in my neighborhood when I was a kid and I would ride my bike over there and I would either, you know, watch cable TV because I have as well. So that was a treat, was to ride my bike over there.

00:15:01:05 - 00:15:18:05
LAUREN
I watch Disney Channel or whatever. I play video games with him till like 5 a.m. or, you know, we talk about comics, watch movies, anything like that. But he was the one that would go to his local comic shop, which I still know that's still around, which is really cool in the area. But he would get stacks every week.

00:15:18:05 - 00:15:30:15
LAUREN
I mean, a huge stack, like absolutely no joke. It would blow my mind. So he's got warm boxes probably in New Hampshire somewhere to fill everything. I need to go up there and see what he'll let me.

00:15:30:15 - 00:15:34:13
LAUREN
Nag for a deal. But, um, by God. Well, I.

00:15:34:14 - 00:15:52:08
LAUREN
Have it through, you know, video games first, you know, like the X-Men Legends and Marvel to my lines, I started really liking the characters, and then I started looking at his comics and, oh, I forgot I did this, But when I was in, like, fifth grade, so in fifth grade, at my old school, we had like a, you know, like a school store or whatever.

00:15:52:10 - 00:16:04:15
LAUREN
Like a class store, I guess is better to say. And, you know, you could like, sell people things to get like class money to buy something out of the teachers like, you know, prized Ben or whatever. Yeah.

00:16:04:17 - 00:16:06:15
LAUREN
And now I feel like I hate.

00:16:06:15 - 00:16:09:20
LAUREN
My little like fifth grade self sometimes because I'm like.

00:16:09:24 - 00:16:22:00
LAUREN
And my little terrible self was taking my comics and selling grade for night of real money, class money. I don't know why I got for them. Um.

00:16:22:09 - 00:16:39:07
LAUREN
But the series that is, you know, or the comic, the line that stood out the most to me from when I was younger was actually middle school in 2006. That's when Civil War came out. And funny enough, that was the first probably series I ever kept up with. I mean, it was an ongoing obviously, and it was the first event I read.

00:16:40:13 - 00:17:02:10
LAUREN
So that that event means a lot to me compared to other people. I know a lot of other people like trashed the event and I totally understand their frustrations. It's not perfect, but stood out to me because of, you know, how relatable labeled still is to this day. You know, the fight over safety versus freedom. And it's so relevant, you know, which is also why I really, really, really, really.

00:17:02:10 - 00:17:05:08
LAUREN
Dislike, I'd say, that nasty age.

00:17:05:09 - 00:17:25:09
LAUREN
Where by really dislike the Civil War film because of how important and strong the comics were and, you know what the premise was. So, yeah, Civil War was really big for me. I still have those comics. They're all beat up. I took them to, I think Galaxy Con last year, this year, and met like the anchor and stuff of the books.

00:17:25:10 - 00:17:29:13
LAUREN
I mean. Mark Miller But I'm not like the anchor had them sign him and he was super nice. He was like.

00:17:29:19 - 00:17:37:10
LAUREN
Oh my God, you read these? And I was like, Yeah, sorry, man. Like, I was a kid. And he's like, No, this is great. But he happily signed them.

00:17:37:10 - 00:17:39:24
LAUREN
He was he was thrilled. I read the heck out of them.

00:17:39:24 - 00:17:43:12
LAUREN
So it's all, yeah, but I don't know. Yeah, I don't really have a crazy.

00:17:43:12 - 00:17:45:15
LAUREN
Story, but you got to start somewhere.

00:17:45:19 - 00:18:04:01
SEAN
Yeah. No, what's funny is that my uncle is also the one that introduced me to comics, and I told the story many times as well, too. But it's just. It's funny because I don't think you're the first person on my show that has said that they had an uncle that introduced them to comics. I think the other person was.

00:18:04:08 - 00:18:17:16
SEAN
But remember correctly, I think was Danny Quick, who is the comics creator of A Blade. But yeah, I just I, I now I feel like I should start a subreddit saying like, you know, who introduce you to comics and why was it your uncle?

00:18:19:02 - 00:18:21:13
LAUREN
I mean, seriously, like, it's crazy because.

00:18:21:23 - 00:18:33:21
LAUREN
Usually, you know, I tell it straight people like, it wasn't your dad. I was like, Oh, it wasn't like that. But what's even crazier is that my dad So he did. So he has big thing is fantastic for. And when he was like.

00:18:33:21 - 00:18:35:20
LAUREN
Yeah, he did all.

00:18:35:20 - 00:18:40:05
LAUREN
Of the original run, except he was missing for the longest time. Issues one through.

00:18:40:05 - 00:18:41:24
LAUREN
Five, but he had literally all of a three.

00:18:41:24 - 00:18:42:22
LAUREN
Hundred something issues.

00:18:42:22 - 00:18:43:23
SEAN
Oh my gosh.

00:18:43:23 - 00:18:46:20
LAUREN
Yeah, yeah. So you still I mean I think you got.

00:18:47:01 - 00:18:53:12
LAUREN
Maybe four and five recently, but he's still hunting and, you know, obviously you're going to spend good money for the first three. But I was like.

00:18:53:12 - 00:19:01:16
LAUREN
Come on, man. Like, on all 300 something issues, those are the ones you mess. I know he takes himself daily for that, but he does fantastic.

00:19:01:17 - 00:19:02:22
LAUREN
For those are his babies.

00:19:02:22 - 00:19:26:22
SEAN
Yeah. Oh yeah. Well and you know, it's, it's funny like looking back on things like how many people have had that sort of experience where. How they know what they know now. They wouldn't got rid of their comics, you know, and, and I, I love my uncle's story about how he used to have a lot of the first prints of these comic issues that would be like so valuable now.

00:19:27:07 - 00:19:36:07
SEAN
But he doesn't have them anymore because he did something to get himself in trouble and my grandfather to punish him, took his comic books and threw it in the fireplace.

00:19:36:21 - 00:19:41:19
LAUREN
No. Oh, is just. That is cruel.

00:19:41:22 - 00:19:43:02
SEAN
Yeah. Yeah. Well, you.

00:19:43:02 - 00:19:43:23
LAUREN
Know, that would ruin.

00:19:43:23 - 00:20:11:01
SEAN
Me. I know. And at that time, like comics, like the value of comics was how it is now, right? Because that was still Yeah. You know, in the seventies, late sixties and all that. And so there wasn't really a market for these valuable old comics, but it's just, you know, when he became a sees, you know, all these issues that he could have had and possibly sold later and all that, I think he was just like, I should have been not a troublemaker.

00:20:11:01 - 00:20:13:20
LAUREN
So I know that's that's that's awful.

00:20:13:20 - 00:20:21:20
LAUREN
I can just imagine, like, you know, somebody throwing a giant size X-Men, number one and the fireplace, I'd lose my mind like abs. Don't do that to me.

00:20:21:23 - 00:20:42:15
SEAN
Yeah, I think he had the first issue of the first X-Men comic book to first print and all that. So. Yeah, I know, I know. Oh, my God. So let's switch gears and talk a little bit about the I call it online community, but it's a little bit bigger than that because it's also a show. But this thing that you created called your friendly, nerdy neighborhood.

00:20:42:15 - 00:20:52:12
SEAN
So I want to ask you to tell our listeners, how do you describe explain what that is exactly and why did you decide to create something that.

00:20:52:12 - 00:21:13:17
LAUREN
That's a really good question. And honestly, I'm still figuring that out. It's very much it's very much evolving work in progress. But I actually even though that is kind of like I kind of beat myself up a little before I like it because this isn't something I'm creating just for others to enjoy and I'm doing it, and then I'm going to get all this credit for it.

00:21:13:17 - 00:21:20:19
LAUREN
Like there's a reason that, you know. So the show first, obviously, and I just started and actually was.

00:21:21:15 - 00:21:22:03
LAUREN
I think it was.

00:21:22:03 - 00:21:31:04
LAUREN
Titled differently. It was it was originally I'm from originally titled it. I think it was your friendly neighborhood morning show originally because.

00:21:31:04 - 00:21:31:17
SEAN
Oh, yeah.

00:21:31:17 - 00:21:54:00
LAUREN
In the mornings only. Yeah. Yeah, some mornings. And I was doing it similar to something else I had helped create a while ago. And eventually it just kind of evolved in terms I was like, Well, this format isn't sticking, you know, whether I was doing something different or other people watching were asking for something different, all like crud.

00:21:54:00 - 00:22:08:16
LAUREN
So it was kind of it's been kind of hard for me in terms of me being hard on myself because I'm like, I want to have a formula essentially that works because that's what we do. You know, you get a formula, you get a brand and people know it and they love it, and that's what you have to keep doing.

00:22:10:07 - 00:22:40:08
LAUREN
But even I was like, You know what? Let me just see where this goes. So it's definitely evolved since the first episode a lot. It's very different. But the whole point, the whole point of me doing the show was that I wanted to really focus on the community, to focus on the people watching and wanting some place where they could safely connect with others without worrying about these other awful things, you know, without worrying about, you know, being treated poorly or, you know, being terrible for liking something others don't like.

00:22:40:08 - 00:23:04:20
LAUREN
Of course, people disagree, but, um, you know, just somewhere there was safe and enjoyable and also was inclusive. So the nerdy neighborhood I usually Seana I usually call it your friendly I kind of just that the name originally to emphasize positivity I think and I've actually thought about cutting that out but for now it's staying. But the whole point of the nerdy neighborhood is that, you know, everybody is a part of.

00:23:04:20 - 00:23:34:09
LAUREN
So whether you're, you know, whether you're, you know, co-hosting with me for an episode or something, whether you are a creator that's been on the show or even just pops in the live chat sometimes whether you're somebody that watches A and the Discord or, you know, in the live chats, everybody's part of the neighborhood. And I think that's one thing that is makes it very different as well from other shows is the creators that come on and they have a great connection with they have that connection with the person that runs the show only, right?

00:23:35:03 - 00:23:51:17
LAUREN
They don't have that connection with the people that actually watch the show and the people that actually want to be able to talk to were directly as is appropriate and the creator is willing to do. You know. So, you know, everybody's a part of the nerdy person's our way too. So some you know we have creators in our discord which is really great.

00:23:51:18 - 00:24:08:07
LAUREN
They want to chat with everybody. And we have some other people that are in the discord, but they are willing to challenge what are they loved the nerdy neighborhood. They come on the show and and talk with other fans that come on other podcasters, other creators. So that's the thing. It's just it's just an open door, essentially. Right.

00:24:09:03 - 00:24:19:12
LAUREN
And so my my goal as well in the future is I'd like to build the neighborhood essentially in terms of, you know, like my show is just house a neighborhood essentially, or, you know.

00:24:19:12 - 00:24:21:00
LAUREN
My what I do is one.

00:24:21:00 - 00:24:23:05
LAUREN
House and then everybody's all these other houses like you.

00:24:23:06 - 00:24:35:10
LAUREN
Yourself got voted and actually president and beat out Amanda Waller like I don't know where else that happens where you can get you can kick out Amanda Waller and take her fee.

00:24:35:10 - 00:24:36:15
LAUREN
And the neighborhood.

00:24:36:15 - 00:24:37:18
LAUREN
Yes. No, no.

00:24:38:07 - 00:24:48:24
SEAN
Because I was going up against Amanda Waller fictional if if I was going to be a. Yeah. Amanda Waller, an actual person, I wouldn't have even made it to the election because she was just had me taken out. Right.

00:24:50:01 - 00:25:08:13
LAUREN
It's true. And I mean, we saw that like the next Lord back after the reelection, she kept taking me out. And then she took our friend Anthony, who was on the episode, like he got disconnected and I was like, Dang, Waller got guy. But don't worry, every time we found out he was safe, he said that Harley Quinn saved him.

00:25:08:13 - 00:25:13:01
LAUREN
So that's the good news. But it's kind of fun here, too, was that, you know.

00:25:13:02 - 00:25:15:15
LAUREN
Obviously this is just very silly, but.

00:25:15:18 - 00:25:16:20
LAUREN
It's fun to be like, Oh.

00:25:16:20 - 00:25:17:08
LAUREN
Yeah, I live in.

00:25:17:08 - 00:25:18:05
LAUREN
A neighborhood with a fictional.

00:25:18:05 - 00:25:19:16
LAUREN
Character. And yeah.

00:25:20:10 - 00:25:21:19
LAUREN
You know, it's like it's its.

00:25:21:19 - 00:25:40:02
LAUREN
Own separate world, yet it's complete reality and that we're all actually part of a neighborhood. We all, you know, especially discord. I did get caught on it where I'm, you know, once Twitter started going crazy after Musk's nonsense and, you know, I was like, well, I a, make sure we wants to connect with people because that was the whole issue, that people were making fun of the whole thing.

00:25:40:02 - 00:25:57:13
LAUREN
And I get it. But I was like, we're terrified of losing connection. And that's really scary, right? You know, not being able to talk to people again. So I made the just for it and people jumped in quicker than I thought. And now it's kind of exploded. So, you know, into into what it is. And it's still growing, but it's a lot of fun.

00:25:58:05 - 00:26:11:15
LAUREN
And the show, I really tried to focus on indie creators the most, right? We still talk about stuff like you came on an episode. We talked about the Harley Quinn show and the comics that went with it and stuff. So I'm not one of those people that's like anti-big, big.

00:26:11:22 - 00:26:13:01
LAUREN
Like don't buy big too.

00:26:13:01 - 00:26:33:05
LAUREN
This is terrible, right? So I think there needs to be a balance. And I think highlighting any creators also just helps the nerdy neighborhood, you know, And that helps the creator too, because then they can connect with other fans of the show and stuff and and see what their audiences are wondering, what they like about their work, what you know, hey.

00:26:33:05 - 00:26:34:02
LAUREN
Maybe you could do this.

00:26:34:02 - 00:26:38:04
LAUREN
This would be really cool and hopefully it helps them too. So yeah, it's just a really good time.

00:26:38:11 - 00:26:58:21
SEAN
Yeah. And I absolutely love this idea that you've been doing because first of all, just like you said, it's a very gauge of community. I'm in the discord as well too. And I got to say that one thing that I love about your discord is that we also I run one with a few friends of mine called the Illumina casters, and we have a discord.

00:26:58:21 - 00:27:33:12
SEAN
And I think you have probably maybe ten or 20 less. That's in our discord. But when I go into the friendly neighborhood, like there's always chats and conversations going on, like the engagement and the conversation that happens are like really just mind blowing. I was just like, Oh man, this is like really cool just to see, like all the conversation that's been happening not just about the neighborhood, but just about things that we're reading in comics or things that's happening in media or, you know, Marvel, Snap Game, things like that.

00:27:33:19 - 00:27:55:10
SEAN
And I really love that. But just like we said, it's really cool to be able to be part of a community and think about an extension of ourselves being inside this neighborhood that we all live in, this virtual neighborhood of sorts. And I know that at one point you had said that you want to create an actual map of the neighborhood to show where all these places are at and like everybody can have their own house or area.

00:27:55:10 - 00:28:14:01
SEAN
So, you know, the caption life would have like a studio slash apartment or something like that. And it just seems like a lot of fun to really think creatively how to create a neighborhood where we live with these fictional characters that we absolutely love. And how do you have all these roles that you could talk about these roles as well, too.

00:28:14:01 - 00:28:34:23
SEAN
But, you know, on Twitter, I think once a week you have a role that you put out there. You say, you know what? What kind of neighborhood, You know, title should we bail in on? And, you know, we have the neighborhood priest, which I'm still shocked at Matt Murdock, even though he's Catholic, but he has priest like apparently the only qualifications that you had to be Catholic.

00:28:34:23 - 00:28:57:14
SEAN
And yeah, there you go. But, you know, we have the mayor, we have, you know, the president, all these different kinds of roles that it's interesting to see who people suggest and then who we end up voting for. And it's just really cool to see that and kind of imagine that without having to wait for, you know, one of the bigger publishing companies to come up with something like that.

00:28:57:14 - 00:29:05:06
SEAN
So I really love this idea of creating community, engaging in something that is fictional but is just really exciting as well.

00:29:06:09 - 00:29:27:07
LAUREN
Yeah, no, thank you. Well, and I think I think that in of itself has created a lot of engagement and that's why I really we to after a while by doing the poll votes and stuff because I know originally I started with the idea of just doing it like every couple of episodes on the show, you know, and then I realized, well, people like this and, you know, people respond to the polls on Twitter and they do suggest things.

00:29:27:07 - 00:29:48:14
LAUREN
So that's kind of taken over. You know, I am working on doing loads like, hey, if you're into discord, you know, I'll give you guys first dibs and, you know, a nomination or two and then the others can be filled in by other people on Twitter, you know, just because, like, if people are in the discord, they're the ones really directly involved in community and a lot of ways.

00:29:48:14 - 00:30:03:15
LAUREN
But I also don't want to penalize people on Twitter, you know, if they don't use discord. Some people don't want to use it and that's fine. But yeah, it's so funny with those with the roles people pick out, like one of the earliest ones we did was Best Neighbor Donor.

00:30:03:15 - 00:30:06:04
LAUREN
All that happened really quickly decide our best.

00:30:06:04 - 00:30:06:14
LAUREN
Neighbor.

00:30:06:21 - 00:30:09:22
LAUREN
And do you know who it is? Sean And I remember.

00:30:09:23 - 00:30:11:16
LAUREN
We knew about the show Mystique.

00:30:11:22 - 00:30:14:11
LAUREN
She is still our best neighbor.

00:30:14:24 - 00:30:18:18
SEAN
So I guess transform into any neighbor that you want.

00:30:18:18 - 00:30:33:03
LAUREN
I mean, I guess only everybody lives. Where do you feel like this does? I mean that that's so far about to deal with that you know, again, whether I agree with that or not, it's you know, people can be as chaotic as they.

00:30:33:03 - 00:30:42:05
LAUREN
Want with their voting. People can be as serious as they want. Like, you know, people vote. And Mr. Freeze is our neighborhood ice cream man, which is why all the. No, that makes total sense.

00:30:42:09 - 00:30:49:08
LAUREN
Yeah. Why would you argue against the other? And he's like, probably got to be the saddest ice cream man ever handing ice cream, crying it out. Nora, Like.

00:30:49:22 - 00:31:11:22
LAUREN
Or or Victor. But, but, yeah, it's just a lot of fun. And it really seems to, you know, build that active, engage. And I know, like, even somebody that's been super involved, you know, pretty early on in the show, Eric, he dubbed himself The Punisher, you know, based on like The Punisher and yeah, and he just gives puns to the point where he requested an underscore.

00:31:12:05 - 00:31:14:04
LAUREN
You know, can I have a channel.

00:31:14:04 - 00:31:16:18
LAUREN
Just where we can, you know, puns and I said.

00:31:17:06 - 00:31:31:05
LAUREN
I guess the issue of that. Sure. And now it's really cool because it's not just him putting stuff there. Everybody's pushing buttons. There's no people like one. They're awesome. So yeah, yeah. So I'm pretty.

00:31:31:05 - 00:31:37:07
LAUREN
Open with, you know, whatever, you know, whatever makes people excited to be a part of the community and help it grow like.

00:31:37:07 - 00:31:38:23
LAUREN
That, you know, nothing is too.

00:31:38:23 - 00:31:57:05
LAUREN
Silly to do, you know, that's the whole point of it is enjoy it and, and have a lot of fun. And it's been really cool to just see some people, you know, bond up more than they otherwise would of especially like on Twitter. Like I've heard some people will be like, you know, I won't have gotten to know these people as much as I have through her.

00:31:57:24 - 00:32:10:02
LAUREN
But now that we're in discord, it's it's a lot more personable, I guess, at times. Right. And, you know, they were like, it's not I don't want to get to know them. It's just I did see them on timeline because Twitter's changing everything. So, yeah, now I see what everybody's putting.

00:32:10:02 - 00:32:11:01
LAUREN
So it's been.

00:32:11:04 - 00:32:42:12
LAUREN
It's been really nice. And again, the show I'm still figuring out now as I go but we're we're doing the award show The Neighbor Ladies coming up which is very, very exciting. It's been really cool for me to to watch how the votes have gone. And obviously I can't see a thing. So I'm like exploding because I want to say things because there's been a lot of very surprising winners, but happily so, like, you know, I'm like, oh my gosh, is this cool?

00:32:42:12 - 00:32:48:15
LAUREN
And that's one thing I really like about this award show. This is the first time we're doing it. So it's probably not going to go perfect.

00:32:48:15 - 00:32:49:05
LAUREN
But.

00:32:50:20 - 00:33:11:01
LAUREN
It's just so cool because I was like, Oh my gosh, these are people that would never get nominated for awards on other, you know, comic podcast or comic shows because the people that typically vote for them vote for only big two or most often big too, which get nothing wrong. Big Chuba It's nice to see, you know, so many creators excited, like just to be nominated like I've had.

00:33:11:09 - 00:33:13:06
LAUREN
I've connected with most of them and like, oh my.

00:33:13:06 - 00:33:18:24
LAUREN
Gosh, this is so cool. I just got home and I'm nominated. Yes, I, I would love to come on or send.

00:33:18:24 - 00:33:29:10
LAUREN
A video or have something you read for me on the screen because I can't be there. So the excitement is just it's so cool and it's bigger than I imagined. And it was like it was over like 350 votes.

00:33:29:10 - 00:33:30:10
LAUREN
Which I was shocked by.

00:33:30:10 - 00:33:30:24
LAUREN
Like.

00:33:30:24 - 00:33:41:03
SEAN
Oh, yeah, I was about to say because. Because, you know, the, the discord community that that you created is not like 350. So this means.

00:33:41:03 - 00:33:42:02
LAUREN
That that was not.

00:33:42:03 - 00:33:58:21
SEAN
Yeah. So this means like there's a lot of people on Twitter and I think I looked at the you know, view counts because we can actually see that now on Twitter. But I think if I remember correctly, I think over like 27,000 views or something like that. Yeah, just yeah. So it's just crazy. It's just how like that has blown up for you.

00:33:58:21 - 00:34:17:15
SEAN
And it's really like, honestly, I'm not surprised though, because it's a really cool idea. It's something very different. A lot of people have been doing these kind of, you know, awards like, you know, at the end of the year and things like that. But like you said, it's usually something to do with a comic run or something like that.

00:34:17:15 - 00:34:40:08
SEAN
And yours is very different because it's a different approach of how to think about these characters and these creators and people. And so I think it's just really cool. So I'm really happy for you that you've got so many for your first award show voting on this thing and that it's just, you know, blowing up for you in terms of, you know, just the reach it's getting and the people are interested in things like that.

00:34:41:02 - 00:34:53:02
SEAN
So, yeah, I just think it's really cool. And just as you mentioned as well, how people getting into I know in the Discord Channel, people are talking about like we should have different like people running like different like schools or whatever to teach people. So we've been coming.

00:34:53:02 - 00:35:08:08
LAUREN
Oh, my gosh, you've been saying all that, Sean. I haven't even gotten to write them all down or anything yet because you're just churning them out. And I'm like, You only just be in charge of naming everything like prize a guy like the archetype, like, I guess.

00:35:08:24 - 00:35:24:02
SEAN
Which I got to say, HLA is the best position I've ever had because I pretty much can do however much or however little I want and get away with it, because I think like when people ask like, Hey, can we do this? And I don't want to deal with it, I'm just like, I think that's a mayor's jurisdiction.

00:35:24:02 - 00:35:30:05
LAUREN
And I that's every, every single time. But and I think that's what's fun.

00:35:30:05 - 00:35:37:15
LAUREN
Too, is that, you know, there's no, like strict rules. Like, nobody really takes it seriously. Sometimes people like they'll try to make up a B.S. rule back end.

00:35:37:15 - 00:35:41:03
LAUREN
You do kind of like, well, I don't know, like there's.

00:35:41:03 - 00:35:44:08
LAUREN
Somebody named Chasing the Discord. He's been on the show multiple.

00:35:44:08 - 00:36:02:15
LAUREN
Times and he's hilarious because I know one time you said like a mayor jurisdiction or something, and then he pulled out like all these like actual real life statutes or something. And we were all just mind blown. And he's like, yeah, you know, I actually did this job that taught me all this like years ago, Like I chase, I guess.

00:36:02:23 - 00:36:06:24
SEAN
Well, I think my response was I was, well, that's not how it happens.

00:36:06:24 - 00:36:14:02
LAUREN
There, right? Yeah. It's just it's it's just so fun. And I want to.

00:36:14:02 - 00:36:42:14
LAUREN
Go back to what you said with the award show and stuff, and I want to say it's blowing up for me or even for the channel. That's the thing. You know, lot of people just voted. They, you know, they to follow on Twitter afterwards or go subscribe to the channel. But I'm not really worried or upset about that because the thing is, is that I can tell just from how many people voted that, you know, all these people, they they want to have their voices heard and they want to support these other creators, because I think a lot of how that happened was careers were nominated.

00:36:42:14 - 00:37:06:18
LAUREN
They saw it and they said, oh, my gosh, I'm so happy to have this nomination. If you guys want to vote for me, feel free. VO And people did. They voted. So, you know, that just shows that there is, for lack of a better word, it's like using that word in this context. But there's a market for, you know, you know, having something like this where we can support an idea a bit more directly while still loving the big two.

00:37:06:18 - 00:37:27:00
LAUREN
And and, you know, highlighting these other creators because, I mean, we still have categories for like DC and Marvel. And what's interesting is that a lot of these categories were written so that you can nominate whatever you wanted. There's only a couple of categories where it specified and the smaller, larger Marvel. DC But a lot of the other ones, people can of just get a slam dunk.

00:37:27:00 - 00:37:41:04
LAUREN
You know, DC Marvel all the way through if they wanted but chose not to. So I think it reached the right right quote the audience I was hoping to reach because you know I feel doing the neighborly which by the way you.

00:37:41:04 - 00:37:44:16
LAUREN
Came up with. Yeah credit to shore the.

00:37:45:00 - 00:37:45:15
LAUREN
President.

00:37:45:18 - 00:37:51:05
LAUREN
Yeah you came up with the name which is fantastic. I was like, well done sold. So like, this show is.

00:37:51:05 - 00:38:06:03
LAUREN
So much bigger than me. It's really you all so much. And that's why I wanted to stay being. I think that's what makes it so enjoyable as well, is that you all really have so much say and everything that happens as well, Right?

00:38:06:19 - 00:38:30:05
SEAN
Right. Yeah. Well, yeah, I mean, because I see your position as like you're more the curator, like you kind of help curate the things and everybody that's involved in the neighborhood kind of, you know, makes it. How are they one? I think that's what that's what's really cool because this whole nerdy neighborhood idea is more of like a what if conversation that people can really get behind and not just say, you know, what?

00:38:30:05 - 00:38:49:09
SEAN
If in this situation that involves in the comics, but what if this is something that we belong in or part of in this neighborhood? I think a neighborhood is just really more accessible because when you talk about the universe, you start getting into like really weird, you know, larger than life type of things. But we talk about we all live in a neighborhood.

00:38:49:14 - 00:39:17:16
SEAN
It just feels a lot more accessible and a lot friendlier in terms of being able to engage with that sort of idea. And and it's fun. Like it's not, you know, one of these you know what? If this person fights this person and then you have a whole, you know, drag out fight of, you know, chat between that or anything like that is just more of like if we had somebody that had to have this role or, you know, what, if this happens in a neighborhood, you know, who would be the people involved with that sort of thing?

00:39:17:16 - 00:39:18:13
SEAN
I think that's a really.

00:39:18:13 - 00:39:18:21
LAUREN
Cool.

00:39:19:08 - 00:39:38:10
SEAN
Idea because it's not something that we see a whole lot of, but a lot of people can have fun with it that is very inclusive and friendly because I don't think in this discord I've seen anyone say, you know, this is, you know, a wrong idea or I wouldn't agree with that necessarily or anything, but it's just more of like, so it's just this person.

00:39:38:10 - 00:39:59:13
SEAN
So this is just this person and this scenario and it's just, you know, kind of like just playing off of each other. And so it's just really, really inspiring to see you create an online community that kind of goes a little bit beyond and just let's chat about these things, but let's make it a idea that we can engage with that is just a lot of fun that, you know, it's very low stakes.

00:39:59:13 - 00:40:23:14
SEAN
It's not a video game that you have to create or this whole visual world. The ads you create, like the the most visual that you've created was taking the map and then just labeling it basically for a neighborhood and and I think that was great and I love that. But again, it's it's more like low tech type of stuff where we can really get engaged behind the idea versus, you know, trying to come with something that's really, you know, complicated and complex.

00:40:23:14 - 00:40:41:22
SEAN
And and I just I like I say, I just love this whole neighborhood idea. And I think it says something about creating all my community of people who enjoy very similar things but have very different personalities and different outlooks. But they can all engage in this idea and have a lot of fun with it. So it's.

00:40:42:08 - 00:40:43:00
LAUREN
Yeah.

00:40:43:02 - 00:40:59:10
SEAN
Yeah, it's if you're listening to this right now, I definitely check all this out because this is just a fun thing to engage with. It's like what you said, Lauren. It's it's not something you have to engage with regularly. I know for me, like I would go days without looking at it, and then I'll go in one day and try to get caught up on stuff and challenge.

00:40:59:10 - 00:41:08:21
LAUREN
And then Sean's there for like 3 hours spamming all the time and able to chat with. Great. Yeah. No, no. And that's, that's why.

00:41:08:21 - 00:41:22:06
LAUREN
I like to again, it is low stakes, you know, some people are and they're every day some people aren't. But the thing is that nobody's and they're be like, you know where you know, where have you been in like you know not even really in a teasing way. Like everybody's just like, hey, you're you're are.

00:41:22:06 - 00:41:23:13
LAUREN
Man cool like and.

00:41:23:23 - 00:41:51:23
LAUREN
Cookies. But yeah, everybody it's low stakes. And you know, I really appreciate you saying that about the neighborhood idea because, you know, it's very easy to have a show or whatever and say this is my community. Community is a very nice word, but it's very broad, It's not specific. And, you know, when I was when I was making that originally, even when it wasn't what it is now, I came up with the neighborhood part because I was like, well, house is too small because the house implies that this is stone mine.

00:41:52:01 - 00:41:52:15
LAUREN
You know, my.

00:41:52:15 - 00:41:53:22
LAUREN
House, my rules.

00:41:54:11 - 00:42:18:24
LAUREN
And I was like, That's not right like that. That's, that's, that's what, what, what's bigger than that? But also something that, you know, feels like a warm hug, you know, because I'm a big fan, even in my own, you know, work that I do in reality and make money off of a big fan of like the places that, you know, it feels like homey you get to sit for a while, not the busy more quote northern places where people come and go and to talk to other.

00:42:18:24 - 00:42:20:02
LAUREN
I like the homey places.

00:42:21:08 - 00:42:21:17
LAUREN
That's why I.

00:42:21:17 - 00:42:26:06
LAUREN
Want in so I came when I neighborhood I was like, oh my gosh, that's that's exactly what I want because who's.

00:42:26:06 - 00:42:28:13
LAUREN
Going to be mean to Mr. Rogers? Who's going to be.

00:42:28:13 - 00:42:49:05
LAUREN
Mean to his neighborhood? Right. Like, because and the whole point of it, too, is that I'm very big on everybody's invited to any part, of course. But if you abuse that invite or you don't share that positivity and not that you have to be super like, well, everything's perfect all the time, but just in general positivity that that's what the whole purpose of it is.

00:42:49:05 - 00:43:06:07
LAUREN
And if you abuse that invite or, you kind of betray it. I guess that's kind of a strong word then, Hey, I'm going to do whatever I need to do to make sure that, hey, we either connect on the same page, see what's up, or I'm going to, you know, make sure your community is protected from that, because that's the whole point.

00:43:06:08 - 00:43:22:02
LAUREN
And one of my goals in the future is to make sure neighborhood is open to, you know, other communities as well to be a part of if they like, you know, like I'd love to I you mentioned the visual stuff and even though is low key right now and it's cool to hear that you're cool with that because I was like, Oh.

00:43:22:02 - 00:43:25:04
LAUREN
I need more visuals. But I am hoping to.

00:43:25:04 - 00:43:41:06
LAUREN
Do that because like, I love to make like just like an app or cheesy website where you open it. It's a neighborhood and on my show it could connect to your show, connect to whoever else is in a neighborhood and has something they want to share of some sort, or even just like some people sweaters or whatever they want.

00:43:41:06 - 00:44:05:10
LAUREN
It doesn't really matter to me. But that's kind of why. Why it's a neighborhood. It's a one stop shop to connect with other, you know, people in the neighborhood, the communities within the neighborhood as well. Because it's not just me, it's not just anybody else. It's it's it's a neighborhood that's forever growing, but hopefully will not become like, you know, those very upper class white neighborhoods that scare me, hopefully.

00:44:05:19 - 00:44:08:07
LAUREN
But we'll see. I want to keep a homey.

00:44:08:07 - 00:44:08:23
LAUREN
But we'll see.

00:44:09:11 - 00:44:29:19
SEAN
Yeah well in in two things towards I have about that is one thing I want to go back to how you said that you wanted this to be a community that everybody is a part of that is not, you know, my community or anything like that. And I think one of the things that struck me very early on that I thought this was a cool idea is just the title itself.

00:44:29:19 - 00:44:33:21
SEAN
How says your friendly nerdy neighborhood. Because the fact.

00:44:33:22 - 00:44:35:06
LAUREN
That you caught on to that.

00:44:35:07 - 00:45:03:13
SEAN
Yeah well because no I mean that's that's the thing is is because as a listener and as a viewer, you know that's what makes it feel like is that it's not somewhat you're not a passive watcher that or a passive member, but you're more of an active member because it's not Lorne's neighborhood. It's, you know, something that anyone can be a part of and have that experience of being able to have input and engagement and things like that.

00:45:03:13 - 00:45:26:04
SEAN
And so I think just the title alone really gives off that vibe, which is really cool. And then when you're talking about creating a neighborhood map with visuals and stuff like that, one thing that just popped up, I mean, I can't believe I haven't mentioned this before, but there's a website called Knight Labs and it's spelled, you know, K and I t, you know, so like a medieval knight called Knight Labs.

00:45:26:04 - 00:45:48:14
SEAN
And they create a lot of these cool tools. And one of them is, I think like you can upload a map and then you can create like little pinpoints or whatever that people can click on. So if you get like somebody to create a neighborhood map, then you can upload that and then like people have their own shows or whatever they could, you know, people can like go visit that place and then click on a YouTube video that they might want to show.

00:45:48:15 - 00:46:02:17
SEAN
Yeah, the trailer or something like that and kind of have all those resources. So if you want to do something like that, I think that might be some really cool where you can actually create something a little bit more interactive. If people want to see what this neighborhood could entail for the people, that's part of it and everything.

00:46:02:22 - 00:46:05:24
SEAN
So I can't believe I haven't read Trilogy before. I don't know. I didn't.

00:46:06:12 - 00:46:08:00
LAUREN
Know. No, that's awesome.

00:46:08:00 - 00:46:24:19
LAUREN
And honestly that's kind of thing I'm looking for, but I'm hoping to take more ideas like that and other options more because at the end of the day, I want to make something people will be useful to the community that they're going to use. So I want a website, but nobody likes websites anymore. I want apps.

00:46:25:03 - 00:46:28:10
LAUREN
All right. Well, I guess I got to figure out how to do an app on it.

00:46:28:11 - 00:46:50:11
LAUREN
That's what is going to be more accessible to people, you know? And I'm actually really glad that you picked up on the title because I was very intentional about that. AM Saying your friendly neighborhood comics show the neighborhood comic show or even friendly neighborhood, the your had to be there. And there are a couple of times where I looked at the name and I thought about it like, I can't take that out.

00:46:50:11 - 00:47:05:19
LAUREN
Like that is the one thing that has to stay because that that is the whole purpose. That's not mine. It's not just there in the universe. I take credit for it. It's literally yours every single time. And I wanted to stay that way. So yeah, that's not going to ever change. I'll stay in the name.

00:47:06:00 - 00:47:21:10
SEAN
Yeah. No, I love that. So anything else that you want to mention or talk about the neighborhood? I know you pretty much touched on a lot of things. And what's funny is I had a list of questions, but you pretty much hit all of it in terms of what makes it different, what your plans you have for the future and all that.

00:47:21:12 - 00:47:29:03
SEAN
I didn't have to bring those up. But anything else about the neighborhood that you might want to, you know, plug in or share about or anything that you want people to know about?

00:47:30:01 - 00:47:32:02
LAUREN
Oh, I don't know.

00:47:32:11 - 00:47:33:06
SEAN
If you don't. That's the way.

00:47:33:13 - 00:47:37:02
LAUREN
Specific. I just feel bad because I feel like I just spewed a bunch of.

00:47:37:02 - 00:47:54:12
LAUREN
Ranting for like 35 minutes at least. And I still have it like completely explain the idea. But that's kind of the thing with I mean, the show, you know, I do any creators interviews once a week typically, and I do a live show every month. So people are like, Well, you're actually doing the channel. That's the actual organization.

00:47:54:12 - 00:48:08:23
LAUREN
As of right now. And the live shows can change. The next live show will be the award show, and then we'll probably do a February one, probably Valentine's Day theme just for fun. I don't know, maybe we'll have some shampoo words. We'll see.

00:48:09:08 - 00:48:11:13
LAUREN
We'll see maybe some healthy debates.

00:48:11:13 - 00:48:32:15
LAUREN
Hopefully we'll see. Well, yeah, I don't it's just a lot of fun. And, you know, I hope people, you know, connect with it because it's open to them. Because even though I may really love Nightcrawler and Supergirl, you don't have to love the same things. I like to pop in there. You know, every day I learn something new that somebody in the Discord or on Twitter likes.

00:48:32:15 - 00:48:33:00
LAUREN
And I'm like.

00:48:33:06 - 00:48:35:21
LAUREN
I know you like that. But they start talking.

00:48:35:21 - 00:48:43:01
LAUREN
About because somebody posted a comic or, you know, even in our first posting chat, which that's also ridiculous. There's just.

00:48:43:14 - 00:48:43:19
LAUREN
There's.

00:48:43:19 - 00:48:57:15
LAUREN
So much silliness that they are the people see out there probably like, what is this? I don't know. So if you want a sillier place for the safe place to have fun and just be yourself, it's a great place to be. If you're looking for something super professional, it's not there right.

00:48:57:15 - 00:49:04:10
LAUREN
Now, but a lot of fun questions. Joe Johns show for the professionals.

00:49:04:21 - 00:49:06:24
SEAN
I just thought you look like it's professional.

00:49:07:12 - 00:49:17:02
LAUREN
I don't know what you want to do, actually, President, you have to come at least join an escort because he is on and on and stuff.

00:49:17:08 - 00:49:35:10
SEAN
But in early on, I think people are trying to, you know, not provoke, but I think they're just wanting to see what I would say. And and it was it's funny because I was trying to think, like, how should I say this as a president that will get me reelected?

00:49:35:10 - 00:49:39:17
LAUREN
I'll say, are you going to be rerunning in November because we'll do them again in November?

00:49:39:17 - 00:49:49:14
SEAN
Sean, You know, I said done. I should be like, now that I won, I am bowing out and I'm going to be self appointing the person I really want to be a lay president.

00:49:50:23 - 00:50:15:06
LAUREN
Yeah, I was then the worst thing you could have done probably would have been if you had done that and then self-appointed The Joker, because I had people saying they would leave the neighborhood, but only for a day or so. I don't know how they feel about a president, but they probably won't like that. Either way. We are not happy about it, and it's going to continue this year because now apparently we have have a debate about the Joker.

00:50:15:06 - 00:50:18:19
LAUREN
I don't know why. I just don't want to be there, but I have to be.

00:50:18:24 - 00:50:25:02
SEAN
Well, and it depends on the Joker, Right. Because if we're getting the Joker from the Harley Quinn show who won as mayor.

00:50:25:17 - 00:50:25:24
LAUREN
Right.

00:50:26:16 - 00:50:35:23
SEAN
For like, you know, good reason, like, is this really funny how they approach as like, yes, I'm a villain. I'm not a monster. Like, I think everybody should have, you know, universal health care and all that.

00:50:36:03 - 00:50:36:09
LAUREN
Right.

00:50:36:10 - 00:50:45:00
SEAN
So funny to watch. So I think if you like, show everybody that episode, people could be like, okay, I can see the Joker being in this role.

00:50:45:00 - 00:50:45:13
LAUREN
Yeah, it.

00:50:45:13 - 00:51:01:00
LAUREN
Was just yeah, that blew my mind because I'm not a fan of the Joker. I mean, I think he's a solid villain, so I'm not like, trashy. His creation or being a villain, but. Right, He drives me insane. And then that episode happened, and I'm pretty sure we talked about this when you were on the show because we talked about the show in the series, but it was just like.

00:51:01:19 - 00:51:07:23
LAUREN
I want to hate this, but they're not loving me. How dare they make me like the Joker? Yeah, What?

00:51:08:07 - 00:51:28:07
SEAN
Well, because it's a new kind of joker. Because it's not just how he was before, but he went through that weird, you know, psychological change. And then it kind of like the melding of the two, you know? So it's actually hysterical, funny. But I think people are behind it because it's not the joker that you see traditionally in the comics and stuff like that.

00:51:28:07 - 00:51:31:06
SEAN
So it's like a fun joker that you can really get behind on that.

00:51:31:06 - 00:51:32:15
LAUREN
So yes.

00:51:32:21 - 00:51:55:06
SEAN
Yeah, well, that is the friendly, nerdy neighborhood. Before I let you go, I always like to talk about what comics that we're currently reading. And I also ask people who listen to show what comics are reading as well, too. But as our guest, I wanted to ask you first, what comics are you currently reading that you want to share with us?

00:51:55:06 - 00:52:18:07
LAUREN
I'm pulling up my little comic geeks because I will forget. Yeah, that's not I don't love what I love. I'm just like reading now. So Poison Ivy, I've been very vocal about. Yeah, I will always say it. People will probably hear this on the award show that my pick for best series of the year is Poison Ivy. I that that works for me.

00:52:18:07 - 00:52:39:03
LAUREN
That's what I would give it. It's it's absolutely phenomenal. Yes. Yeah. Long time coming with her getting get so I'm very excited about that. Captain Marvel is the longest ongoing I've been reading. I got back into comics and like 2018, 2019, so I've been reading it since then. I haven't ever put it down, but Thompson has kept me.

00:52:39:10 - 00:52:42:17
LAUREN
I do read Daredevil, so I have fulfilled your quota.

00:52:43:01 - 00:52:46:23
LAUREN
Yes, you did. So you do not have to shun me.

00:52:48:12 - 00:53:14:01
LAUREN
Bram From Boone Studios by Stephanie Phillips. He's one of my favorite writers that's been better than thought. And I don't think it would be bad because I love Phillips, but it surprised me by how good it was. Yeah. Mooney is obviously phenomenal. If I had to pick a marvel book of the year would be Moon Knight. It's been nine, almost finished 18, I guess by the time this is recorded and every single one's been a banger, like every time I'm.

00:53:14:01 - 00:53:16:03
LAUREN
Like, maybe I'll just be kind of like, subpar.

00:53:16:08 - 00:53:16:22
LAUREN
Whatever.

00:53:17:04 - 00:53:25:17
LAUREN
No. Two banger. And I'm like, How dare you? John McKay And also your kabuki. Like what they're it's just, wow.

00:53:25:21 - 00:53:40:01
LAUREN
It blows my mind. And so I've been getting that one a while. Specs from Boom Studios by David Ambler. He is actually a good friend of mine and he's wonderful. So I read everything he writes. He will stab you in the feels every single time. It's great.

00:53:40:02 - 00:53:42:09
LAUREN
But you will be in pain.

00:53:42:09 - 00:54:01:02
LAUREN
The Harley Quinn Image Series. I read the Legia backed ones going on right now and immortal X-Men, even Children of the Moon, which is from Boom, that spin off of the first Eve. That was really good. Hell to pay. And I read some X books like Exterminators, which has been very.

00:54:01:02 - 00:54:04:24
LAUREN
Surprising like that. Books. Insane. Yeah, it's terminal. I've been.

00:54:04:24 - 00:54:05:09
SEAN
Hearing.

00:54:05:14 - 00:54:17:23
LAUREN
Like, that's like 20 year old me in college. Like, I'm working on that. I'm like, Oh, getting war flashbacks, but I can't start reading it because there's just so much. Yeah, it's so chaotic.

00:54:17:23 - 00:54:25:05
LAUREN
But it's a really good time. Like a Billion Genies is phenomenal and do a powerbomb finish. That was really great.

00:54:25:11 - 00:54:49:15
SEAN
MM Really? The Exterminators comic book like I've heard of. But I have a friend who goes by the username big and super quick. I think if I'm saying it correctly or super vegan cake, I think it's big super cake. I can't remember. I didn't know about names, but I remember she did a TikTok video where it was really fascinating and when I heard it, I was like, Man, I got to read this book now.

00:54:49:15 - 00:55:06:18
SEAN
But she opened up by saying, Have you ever been a situation where you're in a bar? Then like your ex-boyfriends showed up and they're like all vampires or something like that? And I remember thinking, like, who are you hanging out with? But apparently she's talking about Exterminate eaters. I was like, Okay, that's interesting. But yeah, so that one I know I definitely want to read.

00:55:07:08 - 00:55:26:01
SEAN
I started reading Immortal X-Men because you had suggested it, and it's one of those things where just like X-Men series is, I don't know what's going on, but I know that I love it. Yeah, and I agree with you wholeheartedly that Poison Ivy was one that I did an issue to review for Comic Watch and one I think was issue number four.

00:55:26:01 - 00:55:38:01
SEAN
But I remember reading that one. I was like, I got to get the trade paperback now because this is a fantastic issue. Yeah. And stories, it sounds really interesting and really cool. So I know that's on my pick up list when it's available. So no, that's all great.

00:55:39:15 - 00:55:55:00
LAUREN
Yeah. Poison Ivy was just so good and immortal X-Men. I love that she said that was like that book. And I guess that books in general, it's like, I know it's going to go on, but I love it because. Yeah, yeah, I hate so often and I understand it because I've said the same thing to, to other books recommended to me.

00:55:55:01 - 00:56:03:01
LAUREN
I can't fault them. But at the same time it's like, you know, people are like, Oh, there's X books. I can't keep up. And like, you clearly are understanding me. You can read whatever you want.

00:56:03:04 - 00:56:05:06
LAUREN
Yeah. And you might need a gap.

00:56:05:06 - 00:56:24:19
LAUREN
Or to failed to like really be able to enjoy it because it's like inessential thing or two. But past that, you don't have to understand everything to enjoy it. Right. And a lot of people, I think, just, you know, they don't believe it because they're like, oh, okay. But you're saying that because you like, I'm like, literally, that's not the reason I do like it, but that's not the reason.

00:56:25:11 - 00:56:44:19
LAUREN
Yeah, so it is crazy. But the X books have been kind of weird lately. Like I used to read, like almost all of them, except maybe two or three. And, and now I read like, two. Like I read a moral X-Men and I read X Terminator, which is only a limited series, which I'm sad about. Give me more chaotic stuff with women.

00:56:45:00 - 00:56:47:10
LAUREN
It's just so fun. Like, Yeah, give me that.

00:56:47:19 - 00:57:10:10
SEAN
Yeah, Well, I know the next year some of the new line ups are coming out. Like I'm definitely going to be subscribing to Crawlers and I'll say this immoral X-Men just because of the cover like that was something that I'm like, This is looks fascinating. I just want to know what's it about? Because it's a cover where Emma Frost has Doctor Sinister like in a neck chain.

00:57:10:11 - 00:57:10:22
LAUREN
Oh yeah.

00:57:11:08 - 00:57:11:18
SEAN
It's a.

00:57:12:05 - 00:57:12:21
LAUREN
You cover.

00:57:12:22 - 00:57:14:11
SEAN
Yeah, it's totally giving.

00:57:14:11 - 00:57:15:04
LAUREN
That's been shown.

00:57:16:04 - 00:57:16:10
SEAN
That.

00:57:16:10 - 00:57:20:10
LAUREN
Every time I see that cover. Every time I see that cover.

00:57:20:11 - 00:57:28:16
LAUREN
Okay. I see a lot of covers, I see a lot of great covers. And I know you do, too, but, I mean, like, if you put that on the screen right now, my brain couldn't look away from it.

00:57:28:23 - 00:57:35:14
LAUREN
Yeah, Night's a part of my brain that I can't otherwise turn on. Like, it's crazy.

00:57:35:14 - 00:57:52:22
LAUREN
How good that cover is and how we haven't gotten something like it before. But yeah, I mean, what's what's interesting, though, is that those books are going to be part of the sense of sinister. And so they're limited, right? They're just attached to that. So I'm unsure to see how they're going to actually hold up, but it looks a lot of fun.

00:57:52:22 - 00:58:03:24
LAUREN
I just Oh, Nightcrawlers listen, I'm going to be going at it, especially the first cover, because it's so good. I know like iceberg, you're you're just you're you're hurting me with legend X, man. Get the horns away from her. I swear.

00:58:04:02 - 00:58:06:09
LAUREN
I can't do it anymore. I can't do it.

00:58:06:18 - 00:58:24:10
SEAN
Yeah. Oh, yeah. The books that I just finished reading. So I got to say this. I've been saying the last four episodes that I'm going to be starting my read of Superman, Son of Kal-El. I have not started yet. It's been a month.

00:58:24:11 - 00:58:28:06
LAUREN
Honestly, I don't blame ya. I write.

00:58:28:17 - 00:58:40:08
LAUREN
Well. I read like the first five or six issues. It started off really strong for me and the kind of depth. Often I've heard some people say, Man, you should have held on and they may be right, but I was not on a rush to keep on with.

00:58:41:04 - 00:59:09:00
SEAN
Yeah, I just haven't started. Yeah. Like that's my problem is that I haven't had moment because I have all 18 issues now and that's all of them that they're releasing. So I just need sit down, start reading it. I just have it. Yeah. So that's been my Yeah. Problem. But I did just finish reading the latest issue of Savage Avengers Star Wars, which came out a while back, and then the latest issue of teenager Ninja Turtles Saturday Adventure, Saturday Morning Adventures.

00:59:09:11 - 00:59:32:15
SEAN
And all of those are really good. I will say Star Wars Visions is one that it's based off of the same name of the Disney Plus series that they had where it's anime style, and I think the comic is done by the same person who did the story for the Disney Plus show. It just didn't. It just didn't hit for me for some reason.

00:59:32:15 - 00:59:41:22
SEAN
Like I was compelled by some points the art style and everything was very similar and some of the visuals were really cool. But I think there is some parts. I'm like, I don't understand what's going on. Like, I must.

00:59:42:08 - 00:59:42:21
LAUREN
Oh.

00:59:43:13 - 00:59:49:11
SEAN
But Savage Avengers is really good, if you haven't been reading that, it's a wild ride, to say the least.

00:59:49:17 - 00:59:50:16
LAUREN
Yeah, I've.

00:59:50:16 - 01:00:05:10
LAUREN
Heard. I know a diva proposed to my son's name, right? He's right. Yeah. I believe. Yeah, yeah, he's. He's a great, he's a great guy from everything I've seen at least. But I was really excited to see I am. I just. I haven't gotten to it either. I've had to narrow.

01:00:05:10 - 01:00:12:23
LAUREN
Down stuff, and as you can see by the list, I read off for like, three nights. I still I'm not back enough, so. Yeah.

01:00:13:05 - 01:00:38:07
SEAN
I know now. Yeah. We had David on the show talking about Savage Avengers a little bit and it's is Yeah it's, it's, and it's something that if you want just a very different kind of team up story this is a team up with people that some of them you're probably familiar with. If you've been involved with comics a little bit, some of them are more obscure characters that you probably haven't seen before.

01:00:38:07 - 01:00:48:20
SEAN
And it's it's fantastic. It works really well. The chemistry and dynamics is really well with that team, and it's just every issue is just kind of a really wild ride.

01:00:48:20 - 01:00:50:07
LAUREN
And yeah.

01:00:50:08 - 01:01:13:05
SEAN
Energy is eternal. Saturday Morning Adventures is a lot of fun because it's the nostalgia piece for me where it's the cartoons I grew up with and then they always fill in a lot of this fun eighties, nineties nostalgia, you know, fun little quirky things like when there's one of the panels they had Michelangelo P playing with the original game boy, you know, And that was something I grew up with.

01:01:13:05 - 01:01:30:07
SEAN
And so it's it's a good story. It's a fun story. It's very campy, but they made it that way. And so as long as you are going in knowing that it's supposed to be campy and, you know, the audience is for those who grew up in the eighties and nineties or people who love the eighties and nineties, you know, that's what it's really for.

01:01:30:07 - 01:01:46:12
SEAN
And they have a lot of those cool things in there. I'm not going to spoil it for anybody that might want to pick it up and all that, but it's a really fun one. If you want something that's a little bit campy, lighthearted and it's it's very episodic as well too. Like you can pick up the issue and read it without having to read the previous one.

01:01:46:12 - 01:01:53:06
SEAN
So if you're worried about that, you can just pick up any of them and you won't be lost at all. It's very, you know, self-contained and all those.

01:01:53:06 - 01:02:08:10
LAUREN
So I might have to try it because ever since you posted, I remember which series it was. Maybe it's a current one, but you said something on Twitter about like the current run or something and it was like, so good. And some are asking like, Well, can I start with this run? And then somebody told me no. And I was like, Wow.

01:02:08:18 - 01:02:12:13
LAUREN
That was girls. No, no, you guys like because I don't know where to start.

01:02:12:13 - 01:02:15:12
LAUREN
So that's something that I can actually read. And honestly.

01:02:15:12 - 01:02:18:24
LAUREN
I am very pro camp. I think there's more camp things again.

01:02:18:24 - 01:02:40:01
LAUREN
Yeah, like, you know, obviously certain camp does. The thing with Camp two is that some of the age as well and a lot of it doesn't. Right. But there's a lot of stuff from like 2000 where like there's a lot of camp, like film and TV then yeah, you watch. Now that doesn't age. Well but there's a couple golden ones that age pretty well now so yeah I'm all for camp like, you know, some more fun comics.

01:02:40:01 - 01:02:40:21
LAUREN
Like I like the.

01:02:41:05 - 01:02:49:08
LAUREN
Deep and serious and ripping my heart out. I read those all the time, but I just want, like, a breath of fresh air. So that sounds really cool. I might have to try that one.

01:02:49:11 - 01:03:12:05
SEAN
Yeah, definitely. And I think what's fun about this one is just like what you said with aging well, they had the benefit of knowing if those things that they're writing about did age well, or they can write it where it does, you know, and sell, they don't have to worry about is this going to be, you know, okay, in five or ten years because it's all, you know, clearly living in the eighties and nineties and they know.

01:03:12:05 - 01:03:27:18
SEAN
Yeah, you know, how those things of age are. So, you know, they throw in the Gameboy, everybody will love that and there's no controversy around it or anything like that, right. Yeah. And, and yeah, just pick up any random one of them and you can read it without, you know, feeling lost or anything. And it's just, just a lot of fun.

01:03:27:18 - 01:03:58:05
SEAN
It's is especially if you love the cartoons from the 87 show it's it's definitely in that style of not just the art style but also just the universe and the dialog and the characters styles while to is is very good. So yeah, so we also asked people who listen to show what comics they're reading and because it was New Years and usually I put this out on Saturday evening because yesterday was New Year's Eve, a lot of people didn't see this and that's totally fine.

01:03:58:05 - 01:04:18:21
SEAN
So didn't get a lot. But in our Discord community for the alumni casters, which by the way, if anyone's ever interested in joining that, I'll put a link in the show notes as well. We had two people that shared what they're reading. Carson had said that he is reading the current Batman, which is written by Chip, designed as a dark Sky, Dark Knight, A Steal, which I absolutely love.

01:04:18:21 - 01:04:21:04
SEAN
Have you read that yet?

01:04:21:04 - 01:04:27:00
LAUREN
I read the first couple of shoes, then they made me mad. Oh, that's right. You change his name.

01:04:28:00 - 01:04:29:07
LAUREN
And there's no explanation.

01:04:29:07 - 01:04:37:19
LAUREN
For it. Like nobody will say. And I don't I don't blame Taylor for. I know it was Tom Taylor that said I need to change your name. I believe in DC editorial. And anyways.

01:04:38:03 - 01:04:40:03
LAUREN
Well, I kind of I kind of dipped off the.

01:04:40:20 - 01:04:51:13
LAUREN
But it was it's a it's a really cool like a you universe so I don't like I don't like to hate on the series because it's but I'm just nit picking because that is so important to me. I'm like.

01:04:51:13 - 01:04:54:03
LAUREN
Come on like I kind of had actual.

01:04:54:09 - 01:04:57:24
LAUREN
You know, can not stray cause not label but not.

01:04:57:24 - 01:04:59:06
LAUREN
Straight Supergirl.

01:04:59:06 - 01:05:09:18
LAUREN
Which makes sense. She was born on Krypton. I actually grew up there, but so that, that really frustrated me that DC did that intentionally because God forbid, you know, if it helps.

01:05:09:18 - 01:05:23:24
SEAN
No, I don't think it's supposed to be the same character. Like, I don't think it's hard because in this, like, I like I get what you're saying. But yeah in this story you find out that it's actually Kal-el's sister and that cousin.

01:05:25:05 - 01:05:29:07
LAUREN
Yeah, but that's a small symbolic, totally changed so that they could get away with it further.

01:05:29:07 - 01:05:40:20
LAUREN
Again, they're trying to be related by blood. Horror still has the blond hair. You lost my car when I read that first issue and saw her before I read that Zora or whatever name.

01:05:41:04 - 01:05:46:18
LAUREN
Taylor was to my guess again, I honestly notice editorial was probably made to.

01:05:46:18 - 01:05:48:17
LAUREN
Change because I know you like.

01:05:48:17 - 01:05:59:15
LAUREN
Supergirl from, you know, and he's read in her in other ways, right? Even though don't talk to me about this either but like, it just yeah, it's just like that doesn't make sense because like you said, it's like.

01:05:59:19 - 01:06:11:16
LAUREN
But that that's his sister that's so different. You think I don't know that you took my blue curt shirt, essentially gave me a blue shirt that didn't have Curt on it and said.

01:06:12:04 - 01:06:15:13
SEAN
Oh, yeah, yeah, No, I tell you that. Yeah.

01:06:15:13 - 01:06:18:03
LAUREN
But no, it's, it's, it's such a cool series. And that's why I picked.

01:06:18:03 - 01:06:39:11
LAUREN
It up because I'm a big fan of Taylor's writing The Aunt Scream ethic. And, and I'm so excited because I love to use I think that's what Taylor's based off rather than the ongoings even though he does well with those. I think a use are his strongest suit usually. Right. So anyways but it was really good and I'm glad it's doing as well as it is because that means that we'll get more use from DC fully.

01:06:40:08 - 01:06:47:14
LAUREN
And I think that's something that, you know, we need to keep saying because if everything was just actual canon, that does not work in today's world, you.

01:06:47:19 - 01:06:50:14
LAUREN
Know, worked in the seventies, that doesn't work today.

01:06:50:15 - 01:07:11:24
SEAN
Yeah. And then Marty, from the panel to panel podcast has said that he's reading Blue Beetle 2006. It's been great so far and very new reader friendly So I'll be honest, I have not read any Blue Beetle before, so but it's good to know that this current run, if I want to read that, I could just jump right in and read that.

01:07:11:24 - 01:07:12:06
SEAN
So.

01:07:12:06 - 01:07:14:22
LAUREN
Yeah. Yeah. Good prep for the movie. Yeah.

01:07:14:22 - 01:07:26:17
SEAN
Oh yeah. So, well, Laura, thank you very much for coming on the show and talking about your friendly, nerdy neighborhood. Before I let you go, where can our listeners find you and the neighborhood online?

01:07:26:17 - 01:07:28:14
LAUREN
Yeah. No, thank you so much for having me on.

01:07:28:14 - 01:07:31:21
LAUREN
It's so cool to be interviewed by our president. Like, it's.

01:07:31:24 - 01:07:46:17
LAUREN
It's an honor. And while our has not cut me off yet, so that's great. I think the new protections you've put in are working. So thank you so much. That's a great a leader. But in all.

01:07:46:17 - 01:08:05:09
LAUREN
Seriousness, again, thank you so much for having me on. I'm always such a fan of your podcast and you're so great with building your own community as well. 01:08:21:15 - 01:08:21:24
LAUREN
Sean, I.

01:08:21:24 - 01:08:24:06
LAUREN
Guess, if he's up for president.

01:08:24:06 - 01:08:26:13
LAUREN
So maybe he wants to say who gets it.

01:08:26:13 - 01:08:29:21
SEAN
And I do have a power. Maybe I need to start doing that now.

01:08:30:11 - 01:08:35:09
LAUREN
I know maybe we need some statutes, so limit your powers is giving you too much.

01:08:37:16 - 01:08:50:06
SEAN
Fun and all those links. I'll make sure to put this on now. So if you're looking for those, just, you know, check the episode page and you can be able to click it. So yeah. So Laura, thank you very much again, have a great rest of your day and have a great start of the new Year.

01:08:51:05 - 01:08:52:11
LAUREN
You do. Thank you, Sean.

01:08:53:05 - 01:09:06:16
SEAN
